The Kaliachak police have arrested Sajid Sardar, the main accused in the shooting death of a papad seller two months ago. A pistol has been recovered from the arrested man. On Saturday afternoon, Malda Superintendent of Police Abhijit Bandyopadhyay held a press conference to provide details about the incident.
The Superintendent of Police said that on the night of November 25, Mohammad Azhar Momin (60), a papad seller, was shot dead by miscreants near Jadupur Stand under the Kaliachak police station. That day, he was returning home after selling papads at a fair. The incident caused widespread panic in the area.
In connection with this murder, the police first arrested a man named Mohammad Sariful. His house is in the Gayeshbari area of ​​Sujapur.  Following various leads, the police arrested the main accused, Sajid Sardar, from the Gayeshbari area on Friday night.
According to police sources, a 7 mm pistol has been recovered from the arrested man. Investigators claim that this firearm was used during the murder. The Superintendent of Police said that they are investigating whether anyone else is involved in this incident.
