Malda:
From the stage of the Trinamool Congress Foundation Day programme in Harishchandrapur, state TMC student leader Jaya Dutta launched a fierce attack on BJP leaders. In her speech, she said, “If speaking the Bengali language makes someone a Bangladeshi, then Suvendu Adhikari would be the first Bangladeshi. Hindi originated from Urdu; by that logic, since Narendra Modi speaks Hindi, he should be called Pakistani.”
She further stated that to maintain the continuity of development in the Harishchandrapur Assembly constituency, people should place their trust in Minister Tajmul Hossain. Under his leadership, more developmental work would be carried out in the constituency, she asserted.
As every year, the Trinamool Congress Foundation Day was celebrated this year as well under the leadership of Minister Tajmul Hossain at the premises of the Harishchandrapur Kiranmala Girls’ Old Age Home. On the occasion, various development schemes of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were highlighted before the public. Standing by the side of the poor and destitute, blankets were distributed to nearly 15,000 people, and khichuri meals were arranged for around 20,000 people.
Among those present at the programme were Maltipur MLA and district TMC President Abdur Rahim Bakshi, District Council Agriculture Karmadhyaksha Rabiul Islam, District TMC General Secretary Jammu Rahman, Zahiruddin Babar, along with other party leaders and workers.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Tajmul Hossain said, “Like every year, the Foundation Day has been observed this year as well. Standing beside the helpless is the politics of the Trinamool Congress. In BJP-ruled double-engine government states, people speaking Bengali are being harassed and branded as Bangladeshis. We strongly condemn this.
