From the stage of the New Year’s Day celebration, South Malda MP Isha Khan Choudhury launched a scathing attack simultaneously on the BJP-led Central government and the ruling Trinamool Congress government in the state. Addressing the programme organised by the Jalalpur Gram Panchayat of Kaliachak–I Block, with the cooperation of Congress leader Mahibar Rahman Fitu, he said, “The Constitution of the country is under threat today. The BJP government is deliberately destroying democracy and civil rights.”

He alleged that in BJP-ruled states, Bengalis are facing brutal atrocities merely for speaking the Bengali language. He further claimed that common people are being deliberately harassed through the SIR process. The MP also accused the Central government of intentionally turning a blind eye to serious issues such as the lack of safe drinking water and Ganga river erosion.

At the same time, targeting the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, Isha Khan Choudhury said, “The state government has turned into a private limited company. Corruption and fraud in the name of development are its only agenda.” Ahead of the Assembly elections, he gave a clear directive to party workers to intensify movements on the ground.

Present at the programme were former MLA Arjun Halder, Muttakin Alam, members of the state committee, Congress leaders from Kaliachak–I Block and various regions, along with a large number of party workers.
