Kaliachak:
Prioritizing the prevention of road accidents and the protection of human lives, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) organized a sensitive and awareness-raising program. This special event was held on Saturday at the Saint Chishtia English Medium School in Uttar Dariyapur, jointly organized by NHAI and Farakka-Raiganj Highway Limited, on the occasion of the 37th Road Safety Day.
The main message of the event was—“Road Safety, Life Protection”.  With this message in mind, representatives of the authorities engaged in an open discussion with the school students and teachers. The rules for safe travel on national highways, the importance of obeying traffic signals, and the necessity of using helmets while riding two-wheelers and seatbelts in four-wheelers were explained in detail.  Alongside this, how speeding leads to fatal accidents was demonstrated to the students through real-life examples.
The speakers stated that if awareness about road safety is instilled in children from a young age, the number of accidents can be significantly reduced in the future.  They expressed the opinion that such programs are extremely important in developing students into safe and responsible citizens.
Present at the event were Toll Plaza Project Head Biplab Roy, Senior Toll Manager Neelam Kumar, Safety Coordinator Abhijit Halder, and other members of their team. The school principal described the initiative as timely and commendable and called for the continuation of such awareness programs in the future.
