Statewide Protests Against ED Intensify, Trinamool Congress Holds Massive Demonstration and Rally in Kaliachak

The wave of protests sweeping across the state against the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which the Trinamool Congress alleges is acting at the behest of the BJP-led central government despite being a so-called independent investigative agency, has now reached Kaliachak in Malda district. On Friday, the Trinamool Congress erupted in strong protest against the ED in Kaliachak–1 Block.

Under the leadership of Block Trinamool Congress President Sariul Sheikh, a massive rally was taken out from the Kaliachak High School premises. The procession marched through various areas of Kaliachak Chourangi before culminating at the Chourangi More, where a public meeting was held. A large number of Trinamool leaders, workers, and supporters participated in the rally.

The entire area reverberated with slogans such as “ED is not independent, it is an agent of the BJP” and “Stop the murder of democracy,” as protesters voiced their anger against the BJP and the central government. The Trinamool Congress alleged that after failing politically in elections, the BJP is now using the ED as a tool to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in West Bengal.

Addressing the gathering at Chourangi More, Block President Sariul Sheikh launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central government. He said, “The BJP knows very well that it has no future in Bengal. That is why, ahead of elections, the ED is being unleashed in an attempt to break the Trinamool Congress. There has even been a shameful act of raiding the office of our party’s election strategy agency, I-PAC, and stealing confidential documents.”

He further issued a clear warning, stating that no matter how many times the Centre deploys agencies like the ED or the CBI, the Trinamool Congress will not be intimidated. He expressed confidence that the people of Bengal would once again give a fitting reply to this political conspiracy through the ballot box.
