Slogans Supporting Khalistan at an Event Trudeau Attended, India Calls for Canada’s Envoy
In response to separatist shouts on “Khalistan” being raised during a Justin Trudeau speech, New Delhi on Monday summoned the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner, highlighting the negative effects on bilateral relations and the promotion of a “climate of violence.”
“The Government of India expressed its strong dissatisfaction and great worry that such unsettling acts were permitted to go unchecked during the event. This demonstrates once more the political wiggle room that separatism, extremism, and violence have been granted in Canada, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.
“Their continued expressions not only impact India-Canada relations but also encourage a climate of violence and criminality in Canada to the detriment of its own citizens,” stated the statement.
