NHAI Flags Garbage Disposal Issues on Faridabad Expressway
Faridabad, Newshunt24.
Despite the fact that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) brought up the issue with the district and civic officials four months ago, the dumping of rubbish along the recently constructed Delhi-Mumbai Expressway continues to occur.
The garbage being regularly placed at ten to fifteen locations throughout the 24-kilometer tunnel is concerning since it puts travelers at serious risk. Despite requests for the city authorities to either stop the disposal of rubbish or move the dumping points or waste transfer stations to other locations, nothing has been done as of now, an NHAI official stated on condition of anonymity.
Additionally, the raised concerns about purported encroachments in the form of slum clusters and shops. Additionally, there have been multiple cuts or damage to the service lane’s iron guardrail. Despite multiple reminders to the relevant authorities, one of the gas pumps obstructing the service lane passage has not been removed.
Additionally, in relation to the compensatory plantation completed for the removal of trees for the Rs 1,729 crore project, the NHAI has requested a usage certificate from the HSVP. According to administration sources, the plantation was to be completed as part of compensatory forestry because approximately 5,700 trees had been cut down to make room for the expressway’s construction.
According to the sources, the HSVP has not yet submitted the utilisation certificate for the alternative planting for which the NHAI approved Rs 5 crore. In March 2022, the NHAI transferred the funds. On June 12, the state information commission also ordered the HSVP office here to provide the plantation work records to Ajay Bahl, a local citizen who had complained about the non-furnishment of the details he had requested through an RTI application around two years prior.
While the issue of waste dumping has been brought up with the district authorities, Dhiraj Singh, Project Director, NHAI, stated that he would need to investigate the specifics of the HSVP’s tardiness in submitting the plantation’s utilisation certificate. Officials from the HSVP were not available for their version.
Indicates encroachment as well.
The issue of purported shop and slum cluster encroachments has also been brought to the attention of NHAI. Additionally, the service lane’s iron railing has been broken or damaged in a number of locations throughout the highway.
